2020 State Championship July 19 Lake St. Clair – New Team Format
NOTE: The event was canceled on Saturday, July 18, due to high winds and storms forecasted for Sunday. It was not rescheduled.
The 2020 Michigan Bass Federation (The Bass Federation of Michigan) State Championship will be Sunday, July 19 at Lake St. Clair launching from Harley Ensign Boater Access Site from 7 AM to 3 PM. The event is the day after the BFL also fishing St. Clair. Since you’re already going to be there, why not fish the BFL on Saturday?
This year will feature a new format due to the unique conditions we are all facing. You can sign up as a two-angler team with one angler designated as the boater and the other angler as co-angler (non-boater). The top six (6) teams will advance to the 2020 National Semi-Final in September. The boaters from the top six teams will compete as Boaters in the Semi-Final while their non-boater partners will compete as Co-Anglers in the Semi-Final.
Entry fee is $150* per team (*includes big bass). There will be a 75% payback from entries after expenses (to cover use of the BFL weigh-in equipment and staff) at the State Championship. The rest of the entries will be used to pay the top six boaters’ and non-boaters’ National Semi-Final2 entry fees (the level of participation determines all of these factors). You must be a member1 of TBF of Michigan to fish the State Championship.
There will be a mandatory pre-tournament meeting Saturday evening, July 18 after the BFL event. Check-in time will be announced at this pre-tournament meeting. Launch may be 7 AM. Tournament waters go off limits at the end of registration, Saturday, July 18, 2020.
If you do not have a team partner you can still enter as single boater or non-boater. Entry fee is $100 for a boater and $50 for a non-boater (co-angler). TBF of Michigan cannot guarantee we will find you a partner to fish with if you don’t enter as a team. If no partner is presented by you or found by TBF of Michigan we will refund your entry fee.
